Looking for an oriental rug? You have come to the right place.
Found this colorful store right on a corner adjacent to what is called Pioneer Square, in the old downtown portion of Seattle.
No, we didn't go in...no need for a rug that day or today either. But...still it would be nice...:)

The thing I like about these rugs (when they're authentic) is the way the smell! WOW! I can lose myself in that smell, and their texture underfoot! I just love these and it's such a terrible shame that I don't have need for one. When I sell my first novel, I think an Oriental Rug is going to be one of my first "Splurge" purchases...though I hear that in Russia, they're often used as wall tapestries to maybe at some point I will need one!!! What colors! I love the warm, inviting colors centering this image, rather like C.S. Lewis' mythic wardrobe, open wide and allowing a peek into Narnia...though this is a bit more appealing than Narnia as some of the rugs inside come from the very country that invented pomegranate sauce with walnuts ladled generously over extremely tender bits of chicken...(oh, I need to go to Reza's again, but it won't be the same without the Ninjas.) I love this photo!

You know Bill, to have owned a Persian carpent in Germany when I was a kid (!)-was quite a status symbol, and I am not talking of cheap imitations... The alternative was to have the room covered in ordinary carpet and then have lots of little Persian rugs strewn across, buy them, as you can afford them. BTW I do love this corner store pic, it has a very warm and inviting feel. BB

Exactly what I was thinking about (chip). The special smell in such a store. Yes I know some people still invest in authentic carpets. I never understood, that it could be possible to actually invest in a carpet. :-O. It is a beautiful capture of this nice store, though.

I too LOVE the smell of new carpet. I would certainly have to have gone in to look! Dogs and investment rugs are incompatible.

First off...I think that's such a creative name for the business. I'd love a woven oriental carpet...a few even...bet they cost a pretty penny though. lol

Just look at the light inside that store ... it's compelling, isn't it? Warm and inviting and gorgeous. I'm thinking maybe hardwood and a couple of these rugs when the carpet here is ready for replacement! Next time, we'll go in and check a few price tags. LOL!

Looks really nice and classy - and expensive. I bought a rug in Tetouan, Morocco in 1989. I don't know much about Oriental rugs and I thought I had gotten a good deal, but my Iranian friend told me that it wasn't such a good deal after all. What I really like to get is a rug from Qom, Iran. My friend wants me to go over there, but as long as they have that nut in power I wont risk it. If I were a German citizen it would not be a problem, but I became an American citizen in 1966 and I wont risk it.
