Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

You do have to wonder about these things, don't you? Apparently someone sometime must have believed it kept on going somehow.... Great shot!

You would think eh??? I agree with Denise! Some idiot carried on and tried to walk on water and then sued the council or something!!! Lovely pic my friend! :)

Being practical this morning, I suspect that is for people launching their boats off trailers and means the concrete ramp under water ends there...so, don't go futher with your trailer or it will drop off the deep end or something. The little floating dock reminds me of that old taunt..."Ah, go take a long walk on a short pier!" Remember that one from when you were in grade school? LOL

Nice shot but I'm lost for words and that's highly unusual!

This is probably one of many that you haven't seen yet in your area. They are all over. Nice shot.

Never underestimate some peoples “ability” to not notice the obvious. ;) Oh shouldn't that sign be on the next pole? :D Well seen and an excellent capture!

Cool pic of the hard, cold, and wet stuff, Marilyn! Maybe the warning sign is for the sight-challenged or for nighttime purposes, Maz; other than than I would say it's quite obvious one would get terribly wet if they ventured further on.

This is so funny and I'm sure posted because someone complained... wonderful find and shot!

bmac62 got it right. It gives you a reference point of when to stop or your boat trailer will go beyond the concrete slab of no return. Interesting capture. Aloha

This ranks up there with coffee containers that warn you that contents may be hot. May be hot? You've ordered a hot coffee and you need a warning that it's hot! Ah...life! I do think that the "End of Pier" thing may actually serve a more realistic purpose, but I don't know what. Maybe it's a tide thing? At any rate it's a surreal image and I love the starkness of it. Really well seen too.

Ah shouldn't it be at the end not two sections back from the end. So I have to agree with Bill on his idea of why its where it is.. Nice capture..

Excellent composition with all those lines. Very good atmosphere.

I love this picture, and the title. Things like this always boggle my mind, and there are so many of them these days. Some of my favorites are the ones telling you not to store hot coals in your new plastic shed, that you actually have to wear your seat-belt with the air bag to avoid going through the windshield, and those trucks that say DO NOT FOLLOW on the back. Among many others. Seems to me that some things should be obvious. What's next, labels that tell you the difference between a dog and a cat? Reminds me of a T-shirt idea Chip had: STUPID IS THE NEW BLACK. Great shot.

Either someone stepped of the end or the mayors son owns a sign company. In either case - nice catch. Dana

The mind boggles. I mean ... seriously. I'm speechless!
