Description
The Frari’s Basilica. The Altar of the Relics. The marble bass-reliefs are by Francesco Penso, known as Cabianca (1665-1737). Detail: THE ENTOMBMENT. In this scene, while two men are moving the marble slab which stands over the tomb, another couple of men lay Christ to rest on a sheet. The Mother mourns her dead Son. Six angels surround the scene, located at the centre and in the corners.

When I think of the time and concentration it took to make such a work of art it just blows my mind. If he had a cell phone back then I bet he still would be working on it today.
