If the Easter bunny looked more like this, I'd bet that more than kids would get excited at this time of year. And yes, I know it's not just about the Easter Bunny, chocolate, eggs and marshmallow peeps (and what some Renderosity members choose to do to them). But even when I was more involved in church (as in, more than attending), I've never thought of only that side of Easter, regardless of how important it is and what it represents. And yes, there's no denying today's importance in that regard; don't get me wrong. Funny how Christianity and some pagan customs have come together over the centuries, mostly one absorbing the other, but keeping it around. Easter comes at a point in the year when there is a renewal of sorts, which isn't a huge stretch if looking at the other side of the holiday. Well, I think so anyway. But how we added a bunny that hides colored eggs to a day that marks Jesus' resurrection is beyond me. Okay, a rabbit I can almost understand - it's a springtime kind of thing. I guess. But eggs? Chocolate? Seriously... And even now in my 30's, I must confess that I sorta feel uncomfortable eating a chocolate bunny. No matter how good the chocolate may be. Mmmm.... chocolate...
