Description
Cuisine in Prague offers a wide range of Mitteleuropean dishes mixed up with Mediterranean and Middle Eastern ones. It's only apt for a capital that was an important hinge between worlds during the centuries. It still is a very lively, cosmopolitan city, where one can taste Italian ice-cream in a Greek pastry shop, meat skewers, and Czech delicious sausages and a variety of dumplings (among my favorites, together with the local beer, I confess).
This is one of the food stalls in the Old Town Square, but food stalls are to be found everywhere, together with more expensive restaurants.
Thank you for your kind comments.

Ooh, I see kolbasa! What a sight! I remember this, especially around Easter when the whole city seemed to erupt with those colorful "Easter trees" and people like my friend Pavl totally ignoring them. This also reminds me of the Czech Easter tradition, a rather odd one to be sure: guys would roam the streets with bundled sticks with ribbons on them...they'd whack women across the butts with them, and if the women were receptive to the men in general, they'd present such men with eggs. It's an odd tradition that I associate with food stalls, though I do have to wonder at the roots of the strangely disturbing "woman hitting" custom. Near sunset, the women get their revenge, however, and get free drinks to keep them from thinking too much of their sore back ends. Odd how such a memory emerges, but then great photographic art does that. This is wonderful and evocative and yeah, it makes me just a wee bit homesick! Great stuff!

One customer is just about to approach the stall, rubbing his hands with glee in anticipation of a mouth-watering taste sensation, or maybe he has just got cold hands ? I like to believe the first idea rather... the town center reminds me so much with similarity of several Poland city's. good memories, BB

Nothing like good food I always say. I love the colourful (literally and figuratively) attributes of this shot from the food to the buildings to the people.
