Brad Pitt and I share the exact same birthday (month, day, year) outside of that, our stories diverge considerably. Mr. Pitt went on to become an internationally famous superstar, while I have led the much more interesting life of the starving artist. I come from a long line of storytellers (whose gift for gab stretches back through the mists of time to our native Ireland) and professional malcontents who were seemingly born to create something in the arts, be it music, writing, sculpture, painting, or photography. I started writing at age 12 with a screenplay with my cousin Ryan about a planet where everyone looked like Elton John entitled "Don't I Know You?" More screenplays followed, several of which received epic Super-8 production with budgets that sometimes ran up to $10. A few even had sound!  More writing followed: songs, poems, short stories, numerous unfinished novels, etc.. Somewhere in there was an attempt at being a rock star...
Still living at home, at age 22, my father dropped an elderly Nikromatt 35-mm film camera into my lap, in the hopes that I would "make a go of it" as a photojournalist. That didn't happen, but I did develop an abiding love of photography that along with writing and archival work have been among the chief passions of my life. When it comes to my photography, I try to be as creative as possible while at the same time striving for a documentary/archival quality. The only set rules I adhere to, when it comes to making pictures are: 1.) Try not to make the picture blurry, and 2.) Don't drop the camera.

And the river is dyed green from St. Patric's Day! Drunken Chicagoans are somewhere in the picture, wearing foil green hats with shamrocks on them. What a view. I love the tight, urban perspective here and the whole Chicago jumble of skyscrapers. There's something about Donald Trump's phalus looming where the Sun Times Building once stood, but I don't know if that something is a good thing or not. It's certainly eye-grabbing. I love the composition of this shot. Great work.

Oh man, what a difference! I've got this up in one window, and the other up in another window, flipping back and forth. It's incredible! (The Chicago River weirds me out anyway ... BACKwards???

Chicago looks a interesting City. Here in Australia we hear or see very little about it. It was only maybe ten years ago I found it had all these canals, so it is live and learn. Thanks. PS: If you have any more photos of the City I would love to see them.

They've ruined my old stomping grounds.Trump's monstrosity has replaced the old Sun Times Bldg. where I used to work with it's pretty little park between it and the Wrigley Bldg. I bet there isn't any green area left along the whole river now. Those sky scrapers have closed in the river and made it look narrower and smaller. Good picture Corey. Nothing stays the same I know, but I don't think this was an improvement. Chicago is loosing it's flavor. I prefer to remember it the way it was 15 years ago when we moved away

I looked at them side by side too. Amazing difference. I recognised two of the buildings from when I was there in '05, the blue one with the paralleled line details and triangles on the top and the funny looking one with all the parking areas on the bottom floors. Great shot and very interesting to compare!
