Brad Pitt and I share the exact same birthday (month, day, year) outside of that, our stories diverge considerably. Mr. Pitt went on to become an internationally famous superstar, while I have led the much more interesting life of the starving artist. I come from a long line of storytellers (whose gift for gab stretches back through the mists of time to our native Ireland) and professional malcontents who were seemingly born to create something in the arts, be it music, writing, sculpture, painting, or photography. I started writing at age 12 with a screenplay with my cousin Ryan about a planet where everyone looked like Elton John entitled "Don't I Know You?" More screenplays followed, several of which received epic Super-8 production with budgets that sometimes ran up to $10. A few even had sound!  More writing followed: songs, poems, short stories, numerous unfinished novels, etc.. Somewhere in there was an attempt at being a rock star...
Still living at home, at age 22, my father dropped an elderly Nikromatt 35-mm film camera into my lap, in the hopes that I would "make a go of it" as a photojournalist. That didn't happen, but I did develop an abiding love of photography that along with writing and archival work have been among the chief passions of my life. When it comes to my photography, I try to be as creative as possible while at the same time striving for a documentary/archival quality. The only set rules I adhere to, when it comes to making pictures are: 1.) Try not to make the picture blurry, and 2.) Don't drop the camera.

We seem to have our particular bridges, don't we...you've got this nice pedestrian bridge with a killer view of the Chicago River's curve (well, one of its curves, anyway) and I've got that vertical lift railroad bridge monstrosity. Funny how that goes! Well...you've certainly captured this in all of it's moody tangerine glory. The fog is such a nice, envelopingly mysterious touch, and the intensity of the light, despite the fog is nicely moody as well. I like this shot a lot and look forward to more tangerine offerings. Well done. Great composition too: I like the way everything seems somewhat asymmetrical and seems to direct the eye out toward the fringes of the photo, even though everything is focused and well inside the frame...there's still an asymmetry to this that really works well...it's like everything is somehow avoiding the cliche of "centrism." Great work.

Very moody shot Corey! And I love the glow of lights in fog - it always has a special feel to it!

I really like this Tangerine period of your work, Corey! All it needs now is smellovision.

I like this one very much. I zoomed in and filled my computer screen with it and it was like being there. I could almost feel the fog. Nice shot!

Wonderfully done!

LOVE the tangerine thing you've got going with these. Certain things jump out and others recede, and when my eye travels the image it feels like a dance. Perhaps the disparate elements really are moving around as I watch. Fence railing railing fence fence, house branch sidewalk branch house ... It's better than b&w, because the tangerine creates energy and movement the straight b&w doesn't seem to convey. Great stuff!

This has an energy and a sense of surreal that I like a lot.

i love you Tangerine Period! My favorite is the one going the other direction but this one is great too. The Tangerine Bridge looked like I was traveling into a dangerous, perhaps hellish place, this one looks like it is all around me. it makes me think of a future world where too many poisons have made the world uninhabitable and noxious gasses rule. I love the trees barely visible in the background. They seem swallowed up by the atmosphere. Wonderful combination of a superbly charged atmosphere, that seems totally devoid of human life. Excellent shot!
