Description

It’s been a little while since I’ve been able to play. With all the family health issues of late, I’ve been pretty busy. I was able to take a little time to relax today, and play with Lululee’s delightful Officer Anita, Bounty Hunter. This is a fun character to work with, and she comes with versions for V4, A4, and G4. I used the G4 version for this little bit of fun – as most of you know, I’m a huge fan of The Girl. I rendered her in Poser 8 at about 3000 pixels tall, and saved as a PNG. I dropped her into a photo I took a couple years ago with my dad, during the same photo excursion as my last post. I did some postwork in Photoshop to remove some plastic construction barriers in the background, and removed some storage tanks in the distance. The sky was pretty bald that day, so I composited the clouds to make the sky a little more interesting. I added a slight reflection to the water’s surface – it’s actually flowing (it’s the Missouri River), so I didn’t want it to be too glassy. The bottle, smoke and faerie are all Photoshop Brushes. I can’t remember where I got the smoke brush, but the bottle and faerie are brushes by Obsidian Dawn (www.obsidiandawn.com). I want to thank everyone who sent well-wishes for my dad. He’s out of the hospital, now, and back home at his apartment. He’s doing about as well as a 91 year old cancer patient can do. He’s slowly getting his strength back. Thank you all for your kind words! He was quite pleased to learn he had well-wishers from all over the world!

She would bring a smile to anyone's face. Amazing job of popping her into a real landscape. As Jenny says it is seamless, I had no idea until I read your notes. Your photoshop skills are amazing and I am so glad you described a bit of what you did. It is inspiring. The smoke is great too, it almost seems like there is a fae coming right out of the bottle, but I guess it is just the smoke. Tell your Dad to keep on truckin', he's got one more person routin' for him.

WOOOOOOOOW Rod! This is GREAT! Sounds like you put a lot more work into this than meets the eye - which is a compliment BTW. If your photo touch ups are that good that we can't even tell you even touched up the image then you did a supreme job of it my friend. She's a cutie, though I noticed when using her myself, her head looks a bit too big for her body. Not that it's your fault, it's in the character morphs. Not an issue though. That can be adjusted in Poser according to individual personal taste. The part you have me most curious about is the foreground. I see there is a plant in front of her feet. I know there are a number of ways this can be achieved. How did you do it? Did you import a plant that was not in the original image, or did you create a mask? How ever you did it, you did a great job of it and it really adds depth and believability to the finished image. Super job an this, and a favorite for sure!

Lookin' good Rod. I recognized the Missouri right off the bat. Like the way you describe what you've done...makes me appreciate the complexity of doing an art project like this:) Good to hear your dad is back home!

Years ago I saw an interview with a movies FX guy. He said he knew his job was done right when no one noticed it. In other words that the effects were so good, and blended so well that you just believed them to be natural. This picture reminds me of that, especially after you told us what all went into it. Even knowing what you did the image is seamless. Fantastic work my friend.
