Description

My thoughts here today, were to show you a little of my surrounds... So to speak of the nearest city, but not all is what it seems, it's not just one city - it's two cities - a tale of two cities, namely COOLANGATTA (Gold Coast in Queensland) & TWEED HEADS (Tweed Coast in New South Wales)and the border goes right through the centre of both... and that's were the dilemma starts, when it comes to Summer daylight-saving-time (two States Governments and two different opinions). I would like to explain, that I am living directly on the border, yes ! 110m above sea level and I can visualize both, the Gold Coast & the Tweed Coast, absolutely wonderful, where I can follow the annual Whale migration twice a year; from the Ant-Arctic, past our Coast-line, to Hervey Bay which is known as their nursery and then back again to the cold Southern waters. Here is a very modern, but unique sculpture of half a Whale, right in the middle of the Tweed Heads Shopping Centre on Wharf st. Some water spouts from the top and keeps it glistening, as you can see in the enlargement. Hope you liked the little journey. Cheers *BB*

That certainly has a unique look to it! So, right on the border, that must make life interesting at dinner time, does yer call em an hour early or an hour late?

Not the place one would expect a whale to breach, but what a sculpture to have in the middle of your twin towns, a real eye-catcher and heaps of fun for the kiddies on a hot day ! Kool captures BB Well done & ~Cheers~

Great shot looks like it was modeled after Tlingit or Inuit(Eskimo) designs. I agree with Andrea it is nice to know where others live. Maybe a digital map that we could put flags where our friends are.

Sounds like a very interesting place to live. Living smack on the border sounds like it lets you pick and choose which convention you wish to follow on any given day. How fun. Beautiful being that whale, so aerodynamic and perfect. Thanks for showing this. Wonderful shots.

What a cool fountain! It must be exciting to see the whales in their migration. So, living on the boundary, do you switch back and forth between daylight savings time and regular?

A wonderful sculpture and what a great idea to have the water coming over him to keep him glistening. I love your captures. It must seem funny having two different daylight savings times, I guess you can choose which one you want. You sound to have a grand view from your place and how wonderful to see the whales each year.

that is way cool (sound like a teenager from the 80's... gaah), the wheres and ways and whys of people's homes is fascinating.. you still have warm weather down there in the future.. just starting to snow here... you have whale migrations... here we have pools seeing when the pelicans return (we're in the middle of the prairies... what the hell are pelicans doing here... must be some sort of memory from when they were dinos...) love your world...

BB...I did just google Tweed Heads and got a full map of where you live...then got all wrapped up in Danger Point. Looks like a beautiful location with whales to watch as an additional benefit. Love the statue above...well done:)
