Description
I dedicate this photo to Bill (Radar_rad-dude), hoping it helps soothe the sorrow for a family loss. It's the river Vltava seen from the Charles Bridge. A bit of postwork was added.
The Vltava (German: Moldau, Italian: Moldava) is the longest river in the Czech Republic.The river is crossed by 18 bridges and runs through Prague over 31 km. The name Prague comes from an old Slavic root, praga, which means ford, referring to the city's origin at a crossing of the Vltava River.In Italian the name of the city, possibly because of a very long commercial and industrial association with our region, and the Republic of Venice, is also Praga.

Ooh, a superb picture of my favorite river. I won't tell you how many times I've fallen into it, swam in it on purpose, and drank beer on the banks of it while playing footsie with crazy local friends. In winter it's such a beautiful river as well, when the ice begins to form and make strange surreal islands. I love your postwork here, it captures the moody nature of Prague, which is an alchemist's city among other things. The name Prague is also a loose translation of the Czech word for "threshold" among other things, and I think you've captured that perfectly here! This is a marvelous piece of work! Prague was my home for nearly 2 years and I miss it terribly, but it looks like I might be able to return sooner than I'd originally thought, which is good! This picture inspires me to do so!
