Description
Thought I'd give the new free DAZ Kids 4 a try.
As usual, they don't come with any clothes (groan) - a practice I wish DAZ would abandon. It looks like people have gotten excited about the release and there will be more clothes for this kids this time around. It was a problem for the last generation of child figures, so I avoid using them.
Besides, kids don't really fit into much of anything I make anyway. To be honest, working with the kid figures creeps me out a little.
Took a little while to scale down the Spartan outfit to fit the child. I don't know much about magnets and what not, so I just did simple scaling. You can see a few little problems. The M4 Spartan outfit doesn't need pants or sleeves, so that's why I chose it. It's next to impossible to just scale those down for a figure as different as this.
Anyway, nothing amazing here - just a test.
Edit: It sounds like everyone is familiar with the hassle of trying to fit one set of clothes onto a totally different character. Yeah, it's a pain.
And since this kid is so much smaller than the M4 adult that the clothes were made for (shown on the right), here's a little tip for beginners...
I didn't "conform" the adult clothing to the kid. I loaded it into the scene, scaled it down, and then moved/rotated it manually into place. It's a little time consuming. If you were to move the child figure in this scene, the clothes would all still be in the same place as they are now. So once I made the pose for the kid, I was stuck with it. The pose was one of the presets poses that came with the figure, by the way.
Also, I loaded two sets of the leg bracers. I loaded one pair (which contains both the right and left) and turned the right one invisible. Then loaded a second set and turned the left one invisible. That gave me two independent pieces to work with that I could move around as seperate pieces. This was how I worked around the fact that these bracers (like shoes) almost always have the right and left load as one piece that you're supposed to conform to the figure. If I didn't do this, I'd have one bracers in the right place and the other one floating out in the air.
The reason he isn't wearing sandals is because the adult sandals simply wouldn't scale down correctly. Plus, the pose of the feet didn't really work for them anyway. So I left them off.

You did a really great job with this! You must have had a lot of patience to scale that outfit down and fit it properly! A very cute pose too! :)

of most of the poser figures to me they look the most fake, but you have done an excellent render

The toe pose is very cute..and what patience to get the clothes scaled down to fit!

Not being a render artist, but in on the "How to" complexities at GPA, I am totally impressed at the effort of sizing down clothes. (It is a bit weird to create a kid and not provide clothes...It would make me a bit unnerved too.) Great work! Mickey "Daddy" Ray

Good job on the scaling. I'm looking forward to the cross-dresser license for K4

Great image and posing. I picked up Kids4 too only because I'm a sucker for special sales. I'm sure I'll eventually think of a render to do with them. I prefer unusual kids like Nursoda's Kali and Kelm. And I'm having fun at the moment with Littlefox's Cookie & Chip. I use Clothes Converter or Cross-Dresser to convert clothes between figures but these programs tend to distort or even tear a mesh that has too intricate detail.

i am sure crossdresser or wardrobe wizard will be updated for this figure

Never used Wardrobe Wizard or any of those types of programs. I'm going to look into that.

nice work... yeah, it's a hard jigsawing to scale clothes from different classes of figures to others... and if programs can do this better... have tried clothes converter, cross dresser and the demo of wardrobe wizard... they all have fortes and foibles... wardrobe wizard may be the most advanced solution - unfortunately ( this is not a generally problem, but it occurs at my system ) it may collide with a installed python engine... crossdresser whereas has problems with the skeleton joints /falloff-zones of some characters (apollo maximus / clark) and tends to distort the meshes... would be nice, if daz could integrate a plugin into the studio to converte the skeletons and joints automatic - without magnets and deformers...

That is really exceptionally done! I share your pain on scaling clothing but you've done a really fantastic job here!

Looks like all that hard work really paid off, this is a fantastic image! Well done!
