Description

Taken again in front of my mother's sliding glass doors. I've got an idea for the next time I go there. :-) I've gotten quite fond of those doors. My other image of them is here Thanks for viewing, and for previous comments and favs!

WOW! This is marvelous! I love the treatment of this photograph, the way the red and the curtain guides something of the emotional impact of this picture! For me it's all about the colors and the way they move in and around the darkness and the light. The human reflection is quite stunning and a whammy all by itself and it evokes at least a dozen compelling stories just begging to be told/explored. This is super!

Like all things sub-liminal, reflections can be fascinating. Memories, dreams, inspirations and intimations of Spirit all dance at the edges of our perception and they each reflect back just a little of the one who perceives them. Every photographer I've known, including myself, has been enchanted by capturing reflections with their cameras.  It is great sport.  :-) What I like about your photograph is that this was created in a domestic environment.  In places that are familiar to us we tend to overlook the details which might make for a great image.  Most reflection photos we see have been taken in unusual places where the freshness of the scene caught the photographer's eye. I do not seek to pry but I would be interested to know whether your Mom lives in the same house you grew up in.  I ask because I tend to place myself in a photographer's position and try to imagine what may have inspired a particular photograph.  Were it me, I could imagine myself attempting to capture a glimpse of my younger self looking back out of the window in the house I grew up in.  Stranger things have been caught on film. Thanks for sharing this!  It's enjoyable to view. Terry

Lucinda, this is really special! I just am so taken with your reflection in particular and also that of the nets. And what a glory the hedge is now that it's in flower!

First off, why did Tea Rex hyphenate subliminal? Lots of quasi silhouetting in this fine shot, Lucinda.

My first thought was Remembrance of Things Past by Marcel Proust. The ghostly image left during a previous occupant appears to the photographer. As usual Terry beat me to the comment and said it better but I get points for obscure references! Excellent composition and very well done. The plant looks like bouganvilla, also know as the plant that ate my parent's garage.
