Description

This was originally just a texture/render test with the Lilac plant from Cornucopia. After tweaking the materials (they needed it badly!) I liked the outcome, so I decided that the scene needed some butterflies. And based on the DAZ "Ulitmate Butterfly Collection" I made a "European Peacock" texture in Photoshop (from photo material), and this is the result :) Both lilacs and peacock butterflies are very common in my country. Vue 8.4 render, 3.5 hrs with GR and user settings. Lensblur DOF, levels correction, framing & signature with Photoshop. (The lilac model and the included texture maps are very good. But the author Jan Walter Schliep (aka "Walli") needs to work a little on his Vue texturing skills :) What's with translucency of 1 m depth for a flower petal (instead of "backlight")? Also he suggests making the material "luminous". In a GR render it makes the materials act as light sources!) Thanks for taking a look, comments etc. welcome and appreciated. Have a nice weekend - Lars

Gee Lars, I have to say that I was sure this was a photograph and went down to statistics to see the camera details. The variations in the flower petals is outstanding!! I'm not a plant or landscape guy... but I know wonderfully done when I see it!

Outstanding work on reworking the textures!! That's an interesting butterfly you have created as well. The two go hand in hand very nicely. I give you a 10+!

wow. i thought this was a photo. the only thing that tips it is that (viewed at full sizez) everything is a little too harsh, with not enough softness and blurring from SSS. incredible light. gorgeous colors. and a wonderful yet simple composition.
