Rose came onto the observation deck and knelt next to her daughter. "Sunshine...have you heard about Toxic's friend,Jin?" Sunny nodded."She died.Is she gonna be alright?" Rose blinked in shock and drew a shuddering breath. "No. She's really dead. She's 'Ceased Function Permanently' dead. She's gone forever. Do you understand?" Sunny shook her head. "She can be fixed, can't she?" Rose took Sunny's hand and squeezed it. "People can't be fixed back from the dead all the time. Sometimes, maybe, but not ALL the time. People are too complicated and just can't be repaired in time. Jin died instantly. She didn't suffer, but there was no TIME to fix her either. Toxic was right there and couldn't save Jin." Rose didn't mean to cry, but silent tears ran down her cheeks. Sunshine started crying, seeing how upset her mother was. Sunny flowed up against her mother as the emotion of it finally hit her. Rose held her little girl until she wept herself out. Rose said,"Listen to me very carefully, love. Toxic is as sad as Lime would be If I died. She's going to need you to be strong and understanding for her. It WAS NOT her fault that my best friend Jin, died. She will carry that guilt and sadness for a long time. You can help her by being there when she needs to talk or just cry. If she doesn't want to play, don't be angry, don't sulk...it's because she hurts SO MUCH inside, that part of her wishes she might have died,too." Sunny looked alarmed and shook her head. Rose said,"Think how you might feel if something happened to me. That's how toxic feels right now." Sunny gripped Rose and whispered,"I'd NEVER stop crying, it'd hurt SO MUCH! I'd do ANYTHING to save you from that. I'd go back in time and stop it! I'd kill people who'd try to hurt you! I'd do it,too!" Rose was shocked and felt a cold chill at those words. Rose said,"Children must never make promises like that! That is what Parents are for. Adults can make those choices, even if they are choices of good or evil. Children can't because they don't know of those choices yet." Sunny looked at her mom and asked,"What is GOOD? What is EVIL? That is part of 'Morality', isn't it?" Rose pulled away from Sunny and said,"It's more than arbitrary rules laid down by human's god-like beings. 'Good' is helping other people without thought of repayment. Helping others is also called charity. It's a form of love. Evil is hurting or harming other people without clear motive or purpose. Doing bad things simply because you think you can get away with them is evil. When it's clear cut, and obvious...it's easy to determine good and evil. When it's murky, it's difficult. Adults can commit evil without meaning to when it's very complex. THAT causes guilt in some people. War is very complex. That causes guilt sometimes, too." Sunny blinked and looked confused,"Was Jin killed in the war?" Rose shook her head."No. She was killed by an evil man who wanted to take her away from the Captain. THAT took her away from everyone,else,too. Not only did he hurt the Captain, he hurt the whole crew,too. So a LOT of people are very angry and want to kill that man. That can be bad." Rose continued,"Narchi put it best. 'Justice NEVER comes from anger. Only revenge. To make justice, you must have a cool head and work WITHIN the laws. Anger only creates revenge killings and murder. None can kill simply because they are angry. That creates evil. If a man kills, he must be judged as to whether he is a danger to others. If a danger, he must be removed to save life. People get angry and want to kill others, and that is a cycle that never ends.' Narchi is..." Sunny said," VERY SMART! He's a real wise guy. That's why Neblae likes him. He's funny,too. AND has whiskers,too. Alright, I understand, I think. Just promise me, that YOU'll never die!" Rose smiled at Sunny and simply nodded.
