Description

A four-panel vertical pano of one of the Hoh rain forest's tall trees. My guess would be that this is a Sitka Spruce, although I'm open to being wrong about that! I'll admit the postwork was to compensate for some less-than-perfectly-sharp photography, but sometimes WHAT I want to show you is more important to me than the quality of the photography. Zoom pays.

Ouch! Now I have a crick in my neck! That's a TALL tree, and now I feel totally small and useless... Great work, Tara!

Neck!? My mouse scroll button is worn out from climbing down on the bark! Must be an old aged tree. Well done, Clive

Tara, this is one magnificent pano. I really got the sense of height to this, and I loved the bright green growth mid-way up.

Wow, I've never considered a vertical pano...great idea with an equally fine outcome. I like the fact that there are wind-borne mosses waaaay up there too. OK, back to my pics to see what I have from the Hoh rain forest to put up next or soon...such a unique place (or ecosystem if I was into that sort of lingo). A+++ :)

Just the title put a crick in my neck!! I've never tried a pano of a tree before, usually I lie down below the tree and shoot up--your way is much easier!! But wow, you really show us how big these trees are and that's not easy. I keep trying to get a shot of a redwood that shows the same thing. Awesome!!

A very good job of conveying the humbling size of these trees.

I have always considered if there is a portion of the photo in focus, then it's a good photo. ;c) Yours has enough sharp focus for me to say it is a successful shot. I have been to Calaveras Big Trees many times, and struggled to get the entire set of trees up to the very top. This is a very clever image. I love the Big Trees. People come from all over the world to see them, and cannot believe what they see. We had Japanese students staying with us (4 boys) for a time, and we took them Calveras, and they were so amazed at them. Excellent image -which I assume these trees are on the coast?

An arboreal treat in the capture of this ancient tree! Now that I've applied ice and worked out the crick in my neck from looking up, I can now state that this is the product of one fine bit of postwork!

Definitely not any kind of spruce, the bark and needles are wrong. My guess would be Douglas Fir, with I've just learned is not a true fir.
