Description
I believe that almost everybody is fascinated by gargoyles, and I am no exception. The gargoyles on the facade of the cathedral of Saint Vitus in Prague are particularly intriguing: they are not only statues of fantastic animals and monsters, but also people. This one is the first of two I especially liked: my photographic eye was suddenly taken by a POV where the saint seems to look sternly at the rude peasant from his upper (in every sense) position. The peasant's open mouth not only vomits rain every now and then, but it looks as if he is sticking his tongue out to the faithful beneath.
Saint Vitus's Cathedral is a Roman Catholic cathedral, and the seat of the Archbishop of Prague. Located within the Castle and containing the tombs of many Bohemian kings, this cathedral is an excellent example of Gothic architecture and is the biggest and most important church in the country.

Great POV/Composition. The attitude of the art indicates the church view that the peasant must be watched over with a stern and watchful eye.
