I am a developing artist working on improving my abilities to create beautiful digital landscape compositions. Without the help and suggestions of the many fellow artists in this community, it would be a long time before I reach the next level.
BIO
I am a retired procurement professional who has long had an interest in photography and painting; and, lately in computers and photorealistic natural landscapes. I hope to become more proficient and perfect my abilities to produce acceptable work. My experience in art started at a very early age when I would spend many hours sketching and painting. I had instruction at The Art Institute in Chicago, Illinois. I did some freelance work for Flying Models, Model Airplane News and Top Flite Models creating plans and illustrative construction sequences for magazines and kit models. I had spent more than 20 years designing, building and flying radio controlled model airplanes...a very rewarding hobby for me. During the 1970s, I spent 11 years in the hobby of "bonsai"; the Japanese art of miniature trees. In my first 7 tree entry in a contest, all 7 trees were awarded ribbons in various categories. Japanese landscaping became a passion for me where I completed a 3 year project creating a Japanese landscape around my home in Oak Forest, Illinois. I also did this work for several other people in our community. In 1987 I moved to Phoenix, Arizona where I currently make my home. The love of the American southwest and all its beauty is where I wanted to spend the rest of my life. Now that we have computers, digital cameras; and, Terragen; I'll have enough to do for a long, long time.

All these incremental improvements will lead to something absolutely stunning I'm convinced. Always look forward to see what tricks you pull out of the hat each time.

I am Liking this a Whole Bunch, Bob!!! Super Fantastic on those cracks!!!!!
Gunglejim
Wow, this looks incredible and is best viewed in full to get the best out of the picture and see the finer details. Those cracks look quite real and 3D, plant population is very well done and laid out. The only negative is those rocks, they just don't seem look quite right or out of place some how, can't quite put my finger on it. Very well done Bob.

wonderful scene! ... about those rocks that Gunglejim noticed, I think it might be that they all seem generally the same size---maybe some scattered and little groups of smaller rocks and pebbles by the larger rocks would satisfy our "mind's eye" (our pre-concieved and culturally tampered-with notion of how rocks should appear in such a setting?)

I really like this- I was checking under all the grass for hidden critters.

Wonderful composition. Only critique would be that the dry bush could use some displacement or a higher resolution texture, possibly just a higher poly object. You are certainly blurring the the line between reality and CG. I don't think you're that far away from producing Matte back drops that any studio would be proud of. It all comes down to details. Keep up the good work.
