Description

I give you fair warning, I've been feeling rather sentimental today. I'll try not to get too mawkish. I have been thinking a lot lately about the vital importance of family and friends. I took this on my most recent trip looking for wildflowers. I was alone, but had been thinking of those I love. I carry them in my heart and so am never really alone. I wanted to post a special image for all of my family and friends. One of my all time favorite atmospheric conditions is when there is a storm or heavy rain on the horizon, and the late afternoon or early evening sun shines across, casting long shadows and causing everything to shine out against the dark sky. As my day of exploring was drawing to a close, this is just what happened. It was a perfect moment and I managed to get a glimpse of it here (with bluebonnets and a sprinkling of Indian paintbrushes!) I hope you all like it. Tomorrow I go to New York to see Leslie. There is a song from Gilbert and Sullivan's "Pirates of Penzance" that has a line in it that I think of when I am going to see Leslie or she is coming to see us. The whole song doesn't apply as it is between two lovers and, like most Gilbert and Sullivan, has many moments of extreme silliness (which actually does apply to me rather.) But the lines: "Oh, here is love, and here is truth, And here is food for joyous laughter" seem most appropriate to me right now. I will be able to comment from Leslie's and plan to post a picture from the Big Apple. Thanks for viewing and a big Thank You for your comments and favs!

Beautiful image - and it is a GOOD thing to remember the REAL treasure one has in friends and family. To be a good artist, you have to express emotion; To express emotion, you have to have FELT emotion. Keep up the good work!

You've captured the contrast of a storm and all its vibrant colors beautifully. I love how the red of the Indian paintbrush is echoed in some of the fence.
