Description
Canada Day (French: Fête du Canada), formerly Dominion Day, is Canada's national day, a federal statutory holiday celebrating the anniversary of the 1 July 1867 enactment of the British North America Act, which united two British colonies and a province of the British Empire into a single country called Canada. It is frequently referred to as "Canada's birthday”. Part of the celebration, is for the military contingent, from the Quebec Citadel, to march down through the streets of old Quebec City. A very festive day.
Taken with my old Pentax film camera, in the late 1980s, and later scanned.

Reminds me of my 5 years in Montréal during the 1970's. We had the Royal Highlands Black Watch parading in their kilts and bag pipes. Really festive. Thanks for sharing and bringing up the pleasant memories.

Splendid POV employed to capture the colorful marchers as they paraded proudly by in lock step, Dana. It's a wonder they can see anything from under those huge busby hats. I had a Pentax back then, purchased in 1983, but sold under the Sears label. Took tons of fotos with it.

I would love to visit during such festivities. Human customs always fascinate me, especially when enormous hats are involved! I love the brilliant reds in this and the sense of pomp and solemnity as well. There's so much to like in this photo.
