Description

This is growing on a big tree stump behind a shopping centre, in the full sunlight most of the day. At first I thought it was an expanding foam used in the building industry. I will leave it up to you to identify - I have had no luck with my books and net searching. Cheers, Clive

I've seen this stuff growing in my backyard woods and I think it is simply called Brain Fungus. The ones back in the woods come up in alot of different colors but white and yellow dominate. Cool photo:)

Look's like it is in the False Morel Family. That's the only ones in the book that look brain like, but most of them are brownish colored. Hope that helps. You can just call it, Morel Brain! ;D Excellent find and capture!

Great shot and found. You can eat this. In Holland we call it "chicken in the wood', because when you backed them, the taste is like chicken-meat. Laetiporus sulphureus is the name of this one (Famely of the Laetiporeae).
