Description

For this scene, the characters were rendered in Poser 6. The background was rendered in Bryce 6.0. I combined the elements in PhotoShop 7. With the establishment of the base by the lake, construction of their first headquarters began. Another 100 maintenance crewman were brought out of SA to assist with this phase. While construction progressed, the Captain and Lieutenant began a more detailed exploration of the regions near their base. They had another shuttle follow them as backup in case the encountered the unexpected. Each day, they went out farther than the last, carefully charting their discoveries. On their 7th day of explorations, they DID find the unexpected. Another beautiful lake with mountains surrounding it, similar to their base site. As the got closer, they could make out the unmistakable shapes of buildings on an island in the lake. They descended lower for a firsthand look. Humanoid like beings came pouring out of the buildings and stared up at them! Since the shuttles had hovering abilities, the Captain slowed down and held his position over a hill near the village. Three of the more adventuresome individuals ran out of the village and up the hill just below their hover point and stared up at them as if they were waving. About that time, their backup shuttle approached. The village people were too busy looking at the Captain and Lieutenant's shuttle to notice the other one. The captain was uncertain how to proceed. Perhaps it was too soon to try and make contact with these people? They needed more information before any further actions could be taken. Had these people ever seen anything like the Captain's shuttle before? They didn't seem afraid of it. That much was certain. What did it all mean? I used Drakelot's ZB Man for the characters. The island fortress is a freebie, 'Castle of the dark ages' by CaptainMarlowe. Thank you Captain!!! Thank you for taking a peek! Your support is greatly appreciated!

Fantastic scene. How many scifi disasters could have been avoided if two ships had been sent out instead of one?
