Description

Matte painting concept. This is a re-make of the original Touch the Sky image, done last year. I wanted to re-visit this image to enhance the cloud layers by creating more detailed clouds that were less grainy and smoother. I also updated the water, the lighting, the moon, and the fog-based horizon line for more details and reflections to achieve more realism. The final image was rendered in IMAX aspect ratio at 240 dpi.

I thought I commented on this already but not. Much better, a significant improvement on an already finely crafted work. For me it all centers on the brighter, sharper moon which now really captures the eye and yet adds strong support for the brightness behind the clouds. Though of course a setting sun is the ultimate answer; still the picture in now better balanced in its color depth. A deeper ocean also works its own magic.
