Description

The " LYRIC " theatre in Hamilton, Ontario was recently torn down due to structural damage. It was in its heyday a grand place that gave stellar " vaudville " performances at the turn of the last century. Patrons from both Toronto & Buffalo journied to Hamilton to spend a night at the "LYRIC." As theaters go it was one of the best and sadly it was torn down recently. Another 2 years it would have been 100 years old and kept it would have been a fine testament to " vaudville." I took the photo and used " ArtRage " drawing program to do the color on it. I gave the bricks a wash in a sort of gold pastel and the lettering I used a green to go over them. The letters here are all that was left of the sign, and when the building was torn down the sign was one of the first things to go. Sad to see such splendid history lost in the march of progress.
