Description

Dragonflies have been my nemesis. I was being very unsuccessful, chasing this one around the yard, when a gust of wind caught him, off guard, and he landed on my camera. I was able to transfer him to my free hand and now I have to shot, single handed. Only one click and he was gone. When I moved this photo to my PC it looked like he was laughing at me. Taken today. Sorry about the finger in the photo. ZOOM is good. Thanks for stopping by, taking a look and for all your previous comments. Dana

Hey Dana. Great shot. Made me cry when I saw it as those where my little Mikey's most favourite bugs to chase and apparently they taste pretty good to a cat as well. I brought my babies ashes home today from the vets so the dragonfly is very nice to see. Hugs Liz

They have such monkey faces that I can't help but smile when I see them. Outstanding job and to think it was freehand!

Great shot Dana! Some say that if you put water on your nail they will land for a drink if water is not nearby, and butterflies too. I've tried, but with no success, ha ha!

You did well- my camera is seldom set up with a macro lens that I can focus for a shot like this one handed.

Superlative shot of the winged nemesis captured under adverse conditions, Dana! If I tried that with one hand holding the camera, the foto would come out blurred.

Dragonflies aren't my photographic nemesis so much as they just don't know how to stand still. It's a dragonfly thing, I hear...and did you know they can't walk on a horizontal surface? They can only climb. But anyway, enough trivia. I love this shot and the almost primate-like face this beauty has...and what nicely hairy legs too! This is marvelous. Such great details! Your fingers in the shot add to it rather than detract, and that's always a good thing: I mean, dragonflies have to pose somewhere, so why not on the photographer?

Awesome image :) I have an extreme fondness for dragonflies. On a group of rocks near a river by my house I used to watch dragonflies all the time, if you saw and lensed this place they would be your nemisis no longer :)

The finger helps us understand the size of the dragonfly... it's very small! :) Fabulous capture! :)
