Description

"Perhaps the awakened state means being ever ready to respond; something that no one can be all the time.  But we can approach it; we can learn to listen more and more reliably.  Mastery means responsibility, ability to respond in real time to the need of the moment.  Intuitive or inspired living means not just passively hearing the voice, but acting on it." -Stephen Nachmanovitch
A surprise reprise of a portrait that delights the eyes of a dear friend, designed to sweeten an already happy week. Hey, when the sun shines we dance!...  It lets Nature know we appreciate her blessings.    For those interested in the production details:  The "painted" effect was produced in Photoshop utilizing default filters, a few dabs from a large watercolor brush across the background and a great number of layers woven together through blend mode.  The actual filters used were Dry Brush, Paint Daubs and Underpainting.  The canvas texture was produced with the Texturizer filter; scaling at about 95% with relief at 1 and sometimes 2.    It might be easier to produce such a result with a program or plugin designed for just this kind of postwork; I don't know.  I always work with multiple layers in this manner because I like to adjust just about every portion of an image until something starts coming together that pleases my eyes.  I do not always achieve such a happy outcome and there are more than a few folders stuffed with unfinished works I may or may not get back to finishing one day. You know how that goes!  ;-)    May this be a happy week, to some degree, for everyone reading this! With my warmest regard, Terry

I tend to stare at a lot of your images for an overly long time, at a loss for words. She is exquisite, very fine. And the background is gorgeous. The colors and lighting work really well together. Now I'll find out it was all 'paint by the numbers' and ruin the whole feeling {;-).

The Wyz: "Now I'll find out it was all 'paint by the numbers' and ruin the whole feeling {;-)." She's definitely not paint by numbers, Mark.  ;-) In fact, you have seen her before. The image below will take you to Charley's original gift which was created during the same Poser session as the base of the portrait above. My guess is you will spend some decent time staring into the original also.  :-) Terry        thumb_1945859.jpg

I love playing around with layers of affects too, with the emphasis on layers as plural. No one filter is gonna work perfect right out of the box, they have to be faded, screened, mulitiplied and blended. And with perservearance there comes an image like this that looks little like the 3-d image poser created for us.
