I'm retired, but so busy I haven't posted anything in a while. When do work, I mostly use Carrara 8.5 Pro and Daz Studio for composition and rendering, and Fireworks and Photoshop for postwork and textures. I'm more a storyteller than an artist: I like scenes that tell a story -- or strongly suggest one.
I live in Sacramento, California USA with my wife. Kids are grown and gone, so we volunteer at our church, and travel as much as time and wallet will allow!
I REALLY appreciate the many great artists here who have been SO wonderful with their encouragement and pointers. PLEASE comment or just say "Hi". I appreciate your words good or bad: It energizes me, grows me - and keeps me going.

neat render, I did not realize carrara brings this much realism, I think it looks better than Vue

First of all..you saying that it took a long time to compose is probably still an understatement. Good scenes like this indeed take OODLES of time and dedication and that is maybe the best word for this picture...sheer dedication in a graphic form. Your choice of light and its direction is fabulous. A very tight but still pleasure filled scene. There is just one thingy maybe; she might want to get a softer sofa because that one must be hard as concrete. I just love the little details like the powerline from the lamp, the way the glass from the table does change how the carpet looks, the steam over the coffeecup, the newspaper, the light casting the shadow of the glasses and the lighter shadow of the green vase. Lovely lovely. Great great Job, I will most certainly be looking forward to more work of this kind and quality

This is truly outstanding work, everything about it is top notch! Well done on learning to use Carrera so quickly. I bought it on a sale a Daz for $1.99 and I can't seem to 'get it' at all:-(

There is a good sense of shadow depth here with the shadows from more distant objects being distinctly more blurred. There are an aweful lot of elemtents in this scene and it is truely 3-d so of course it will take time to set up properly and then to get the right lighting components. And I know you like your liht to be just right. My nit is with her pants, which do not fall naturally on her legs but rather ballon like there is a breeze. This shows up even more because we are looking right up them. But that you got so much else just right. Aranee should have some really bold images from all this.

You can really put an image together.Bravo Mr Networthy

The details you have here are wonderful and have been stated already! So I'll say this that when you go back to Aranée and her story, armed with your new talent, it will be stunning.

Well done - excellently staged and lighting with the cast of shadows has a nice touch of the real and pulls the image together. Great work with her pose/expression. I would say you are doing really well with learning the new tool.

A lovely and natural scene, beautifully composed with a lot of care and attention to the details, and on top of all that, the lighting looks terrific! You're really getting to grips with Carrara now, I look forward to seeing what you do in the Aranée series with it!
mininessie

Well done Larry for sticking with it, I know how much trouble you experienced with the textures, displacement maps and alphas. Fine results with the set and lovely lighting. I like the soft shadows, a small touch but doubles the render time. This is a great example of dedication and detailing!
