Description

The black lava rocks were just formed and if you pour water over it, the water will evaporate on contact. You can walk on the black lava rock as it is hard enough and shields the heat from you and the active red/orange lava ooze. Its not a good practice to walk over the newly formed lava rocks but its good to know that you can if you are ever trapped. Aloha and thank you for viewing PS....Don't try it....

shivers Okay, maybe that wasn't the right word choice, was it? Still, just the thought of walking over something that just a few moments was molten...uh, can I pass on that and just look at your fantastic shots? They certainly keep me warm from where I'm sitting! Great....now I have to go watch Dante's Peak again! Thanks! LOL!

Another amazing shot. I was surprised to learn you could walk on this if the need arose. I still hope to some day travel to Hawaii to see this for myself but I'll take your word about walking on it - don't think I'll try it.

Amazing shot, but I think I'll skip the fire walking. Good to know, however!

Like Barb said I am amazed you can walk on this if you had too....I bet you couldn't wear tennis shoes tho could you........I bet the bottom of the shoe would melt......It has always been a dream of mine to see Hawaii before I die...that is on my bucket list..but first they would have to pry me off the airplane floor as I am afraid of heights....so guess I can see it through your amazing images...would love to see the plant life there....the watefalls and the beautiful birds.........and the hula dancers....I would love to do the hula dance with a Native Hawaiian just once.... I am in awe you get this close....you are a braver soul than I am....thanks for the awesome pic and the info as well Love n hugs Aloha Susan~

As there's no lava for thousands of kilometers around where I live, I'm unlikely to try it... Another marvelous shot.

Cool layered effect in this shot. Again, the eye level POV is awesome. Entertaining and informative, very nice:). Great work!

You failed to mention SINK HOLES - lol.... I don't have any volcanic activity around me, and someday I plan to visit Hawaii - but... I won't be no where near the danger that you put yourself through - hot water splashing on me from the stove is enough heated excitement for me - lol
