Description

Met a person the other night, he pulled out an ironing board near the oozing lava. He seemed a little arrogant but I asked him what is the iron board for? He says he's in this Extreme Games and pulls out this old fashion type of iron and placed it on the lava. He then straps a pair of plywood boards and strap it on his shoes like skiers walking on snow. He asked me if I watch the Extreme Games on TV. I said Nope! He started walking around on the old lava and stumbling around quite a bit. Then he walks on the hot lava. It just didn't impress me as we had walked over lava with our shoes before. But with him walking with those home made plywood lava shoes, I thought he would fall for sure and he almost did. We had our camera ready just in case he did, lol. But he didn't and I'm glad he didn't. What a fool! Anything to be on TV..... Aloha and thank you for viewing.

Your photos have the same effect on me as staring into the fire. I guess it is the same in a way - solid fire...

Great image...fools get their's in the end. Glad you weren't there to be a witness. I had an aquaintence who as a teenager made a practice of jumping off bridges for the thrill of it. He then signed up for Special Forces and had a very successful career channeling his need for adrenaline rushes into the Army:)

I agree with you. Don't know why some people would be so foolish just for TV. My life is much more important to me. Great shot. Aloha

This is one of the most awesome lava shots you have taken. I keep coming back and looking at it again and again. I'm glad the fellow was safe but what a stupid thing to do.

What a fool and a lucky one, nothing bad happened. Another wonderful abstract of the lava field.

Gosh, Errol, I can honestly say I feel heat from this shot. The separating liquid and cooled rock almost pulsates with life. The guy you met had little sense but some people would rather die on a dare than live with a safety net. I can't judge but I can say may he have a long life and not suffer very much. :-)

What an idiot is right--I'll bet you get tired of seeing people who try and fool Madame Pele. I wouldn't dare!!

I can just imagine a tiny slip, a hand reaching out automatically to stop the falling, the hand catching fire, glowing red, then pushing the knee in to raise up and escape...

Well you know what they say "a fool and his body parts are soon seperated." or something like that :) Love these shots. Stay safe.

Da noi si dice che la mamma degli imbecilli รจ sempre incinta ! With us it is said that the mother of idiots is always pregnant! Bella immagine , sembra una cascata di fuoco ! Beautiful image, looks like a waterfall of fire! Tu non sai camminare sull'acqua ? Io nemmeno sul fuoco ! You do not know walk on water? Me neither on fire! Buona domenica , Errol.

I understand that there are those who get their thrills from doing this, but it does not seem like they are the brightest animals in the barn. I love how you told the story. The shot is amazing and the lava does seem to be sticking its tongue out. Well done!

A super capture with the brilliant hot lava but what a twit to go walking on it just for fun. Shame you didn't get your shot of the madman.
