Description
Kutná Hora is a city in Bohemia, now the Czech Republic in the Central Bohemian Region.The town began in 1142 with the settlement of the first Cistercian Monastery in Bohemia. The earliest traces of silver have been found dating back to the 10th century, when Bohemia already was in the crossroads of long-distance trade for many centuries. From the 13th to 16th centuries the city competed with Prague economically, culturally and politically. Among the most important buildings in the area are the Gothic, five-naved St. Barbara's Church.St Barbara is the patron saint of miners (among others), which was highly appropriate for a town whose wealth was based entirely upon its silver mines. Construction began in 1388, but because work on the church was interrupted several times, it was not completed until 1905.
I tried to give you a particular POV to catch the special effect of the sky over the church, and added a bit of postwork to enhance it.

Nice shot and post work, super cloud formation also well done.. "Construction began in 1388, but because work on the church was interrupted several times, it was not completed until 1905." Boy those where some interruptions lol was it union trouble.. hehe..

What an image and what memories this stirs! Kutna Hora! I love churches that are older than my own country, and I particularly love the distinct roofline of this beauty. Your post work is fantastic, and I love the dreamy quality this image has (at least for me.) The Czech Republic is a small country and it's FULL of interesting places. Kutna Hora is one of them, for numerous reasons...one of which is incredibly, um...skeletal, and I wonder if you took pictures there. I'd love to see the Ossuary if you did! I miss that coat of arms made out of...well...arms! But anyway, I'm rambling and all I really mean to say is that I love this shot! It's fantastic.
