My name is Tara, and I was born and raised in Washington State.
Â
In 2010 I married Bill (bmac62) and retired ... two of the best choices I ever made! :)
Â
In March, 2013, we sold our home in Washington and went on the road in our RV full time. What a blast! There is so much world out there to see!
After traveling around the West for a few years, we got rid of the motorhome and are now spending winters in deep-south Texas and summers in Washington State. Spring and fall finds us visiting whichever place strikes our fancy at the time!

It reminds me of a Japanese painting; the sideways movement and the frothy top...fantastic shot!

A beautiful capture! I love riding on the ferries and I've had some wonderful rides in great weather and one when the weather was stormy and I never laughed so hard as when we tried to walk. It was like a drunk trying to get from point A to B and it wasn't going to happen in a straight line.
lucindawind
what an excellent capture! I like the wave

Magnificent, power in a picture

Bow waves are fascinating...it just reeks with the weight and power of your large ferry. I was amazed on our last crossing, sitting in the RV without a good view outside...I was wondering when we were going to leave the dock and then found out we were already half way across that piece of the sound. I couldn't feel the movement! Great pic :*

I must have taken a zillion shots of this same thing and never once got one I liked!! And here you captured it exactly how I saw it--I love this!! And yeah, that sun was wonderful!!

One thing about riding a ferry is it keeps you low to the water and there isn't much in your way. You made the best of that situation and got one heck of a dynamite shot.

This shot rocks, even if the ferry itself didn't...hopefully it didn't, at least, as that might have caused a bit of seasickness. I love that frothy wave cap and the deep, rich color! Funny, but when I saw the thumbnail and read the title, I was thinking along the lines of interstellar travel and thought bow wave? They're traveling fast enough to compress hydrogen in front of them? Then I realized that this picture is aquatic in nature and taken in this world. Sometimes I wonder about me.

I do the same thing!

What a beautiful capture!

An image of liquid movement - still moving as I look at it! Well done, Clive
Katraz
Nice.
wysiwig
Excellent image. The way you've composed this makes it look like tidal movement. You'd never know it was manmade.
danapommet
Beautiful "draw" in the water before the wave breaks. Dana
