My name is Tara, and I was born and raised in Washington State.
Â
In 2010 I married Bill (bmac62) and retired ... two of the best choices I ever made! :)
Â
In March, 2013, we sold our home in Washington and went on the road in our RV full time. What a blast! There is so much world out there to see!
After traveling around the West for a few years, we got rid of the motorhome and are now spending winters in deep-south Texas and summers in Washington State. Spring and fall finds us visiting whichever place strikes our fancy at the time!

If we didn't know Lance was a living, breathing, rent paying, video gaming, upstairs tenant...I'd think this was taken in say, 1863 or so. I've seen lots of Civil War vintage photographs, to include my Great Grandfather's, and you've got this one just right! :)

I don't have much to add other than what the others have already said, "Outstanding postwork"! You fooled us all because I, too, thought this must be a relative of yours from days gone by. I hope Lance is as thrilled with this as the rest of us are.

Excellent postwork! This has such an aged and cherished in a family album vibe to it that you'd never guess it was a Tara-tweak! That's how good you are, you know! I learned from some guy who works for ILM (in an interview on a DVD) that the secret to "awesome" special effects lie in the ability to make them look a bit mundane. I think the same goes for photography. The best tweaks don't always look like tweaks. And well, this is marvelous! I also love your description: the idea that he pretends to get shot and then plays dead kind of sums up war reenactments. I knew a guy who did the same thing: Confederate Army, and he was a hoot. He showed up at work in full regalia one day, just because.

I also thought this was a Civil War photograph. It could have been taken by Mathew Brady. Then I read your first sentence and thought "Wait a minute, how old is this woman?" This is truly outstanding work even to the fading on the one side.

Excellent postwork!
