Description

This fine fellow goes by the name of JD or Peck! He is a kind of rescue bird in that when Cheryl passed away last August, Shane (who passed away March 20th) asked my parents to take over the care of JD as there was too much going on in the household. So my parents did adopt JD. He has several habits, one of which is fun to watch: He does not like a messy table and will go to great lengths to clear it off. Although sometimes, as shown by this picture here, he does get over-ambitious. He also likes to drop crackers, bread and his millet from his cage. And he will whistle to get you to watch him do this, so you can pick it up and put it back on the cage just so he can drop it on the floor. JD also whistles for a dog we don't have and can whistle the Andy Griffith tune (Mayberry theme) Thank you for the wonderful comments and faves I hope that everyone has a great Thursday! Mike On another note, my total height is 5'9" When I note yesterday that my eye height was 5'4" that is the height where my eyes are at (I used a surveyor's sighting system to check)

He looks a lot like my Ozzie, I lost him earlier on in the year, he was about 15. I think if they are taken care of they can live to a ripe old age, so it seems like JD will be keeping your family on their toes for many years to come:-)

What a neat little guy! It looks like he's bitten off more than he can chew, though! Funny photo, Mike!

Some years back I did a rescue of one also. It had been owned by a homeless person who ended up in a shelter. He had to find it a new home. He had given it drugs and alcohol since it was a chick and it had the worst behavior - very nasty but since I knew it was "mental illness" and not his fault I took him. We named him Kitty-Kitty in the hopes when we called to him, he'd be humbled but it didn't work. He slashed fingers, hands, scratched and screamed anytime you got near him. Feeding him was done with a stick to pin him in the bottom corner of his cage so he didn't end up biting to the bone when your hand was reaching for his dish. I had a vet check him out after I'd had him about 10 years and I was told he was 21-23 years old at that time. I finally found another owner for him that worked with behavior problems. They are such beautiful birds!

JD certainly is a bit ambitious with the newspaper!!! He is so cute though! We adopted a stary who literally came walking down our street... It has now been 12 years!!!
