Description

An Airbus A380 made an unscheduled visit to Logan International Airport Saturday afternoon - due to a mechanical problem. The Airbus A380 is a double-deck, wide-body, four-engine airliner manufactured by the European corporation Airbus, a subsidiary of EADS. The largest passenger airliner in the world, the A380 made its maiden flight on 27 April 2005 from Toulouse, France, and made its first commercial flight on 25 October 2007 from Singapore to Sydney with Singapore Airlines. The A380's upper deck extends along the entire length of the fuselage, and its width is equivalent to that of any wide body aircraft. This allows for an A380-800's cabin with 5,146 square feet (478.1 m2) of floor space; 49% more floor space than the next-largest airliner, the Boeing 747-400, and provides seating for 525 people in a typical three-class configuration or up to 853 people in all-economy class configurations. It is 73 m (240 ft) long and has a wingspan of 79.75 m (261.6 ft). Cell phone photo. Some information from Wikipedia. Thanks for stopping by, taking a look and for all your previous comments. Dana

Wow, this is the best photo I've seen of this behemoth since it first arrived on the aeronautical scene, Dana! What a BIG MOTHER! But the idea of having all your eggs in one huge basket still bothers me.

Okay, there's an insect affectionately known in some parts of the USA as a "gollywhopper" and well...I have to say that there's a particular sort of airplane that deserves the same name! What an impressive piece of aeronautical engineering! I want one of those. I'd fly around in it but the upper deck would be my art/writing studio. I'm weird like that. Great shot!
