Description

Considering some of the comments I got last time I posted in "Realism", I *really* thought twice before doing it again LOL! But I thought this one looked pretty good so here goes. Once again, this is another result of Phil Wilke's excellent tutorial series. Absolutely no postwork at all on this except for the logo! This scene was kind of a consolation of sorts: I've been working on a very important installment in the Aranée series and I'm pulling my already thin hair out LOL! Indoor scenes STILL have me stymied a bit, but Carrara effortlessly walks through outdoor scenes so I decided to do a simple one with a new technique - and the use of HDRI maps was what I wanted to try. Hope you like it! Please give a comment yea or nay, it encourages me to keep going and keep sharpening the skills...

oooooooooo learning new lights, are we?? :) I think you did excellent here!! I know how you feel now, and I'm proud! I've got a ways to go before ever attempting realism, but have been taking it slowly (you can see by my gallery history here, although there are time gaps). It's a great encouragement to learn and succeed in certain areas and it's also an encouragement to push ourselves further, thus we need a very open mind for critiques and not get offended when help's trying to get to us. When I finally learned Uber Environment lights (for DS), it wasn't 'cause I accepted it right away, I actually pushed it away for the longest time. Finally someone "slapped" me and I'm glad this person did lol (and I thanked her later for the harsh comments), then I learned little at a time. You did a wonderful job here, Larry, she's beautiful too!! And thanks for your comment on my last image :) ...wolfie

she's a sweety... makes me think of the young and bold days when you were challenged to streak... I can see her saying: "you told me you'd go streaking if I go naked... GET NAKED!" LOL

This is a quantum leap in realism, mate. Truly marvelous! The HDRI really makes a huge difference in the lighting. Most impressive! My only comment would be to echo what Phil said: a longer focal length on the camera would avoid that slight distortion of her face.
