Description

From the floor of the cylinder a view of one of the O' Neill colony city end-caps as the lighting fades through dusk towards night. A Consortium couple enjoys the evening in one of the recreational parks, visible in the foreground, and at 3'o'clock, are agricultural and livestock processing plants. In these images I've worked as close to true-relative scale as possible in both exterior and interior views - so, with the degree of precision attainable in Bryce, this view is as close as possible to what the half-mile diameter end-cap would look like at about a quarter mile's distance from its base. The height of illuminated window panel sections (at their tallest extent)are 70 stories from base to the rooftops just below the axial segment-connection bore-hole opening. Working at this scale rendered the four suspended tram cars which run along the axis -- along with the tracks themselves -- invisible in this view. Perhaps in a later image I'll render a close up on these details. Thank you all for your comments on this series. My next works will be a selection of highly detailed diagrams on space craft and propulsion systems developed for the Orion's Arm future history series.

Great POV and sense of scale! I like that it looks a little run down (on the endcap). It looks more lived in than a squeaky-clean cylinder with that new hab smell...

Excellent image and great POV. You can really sense the distance in the structure. I also like the fact of a little wear and tear on the end hubs. Very nice touch! Cheers, David
