Description

This is one of a series of commissioned images I'm doing for a collectable card game. They wanted certain types of ships they saw in my gallery, but since I have plans for those, I designed them all new ones. Honestly, these are better. The cool part is that at this stage they don't want rights to the models, just the artwork. If they do a second release, I'll probably (hopefully) be designing exclusive content for their universe. The game sounds cool, right up my alley. If the project comes to fruition and they get published I'll let you know all the details. Probably one of my best ship designs. They wanted very functional and practical, so I relied heavily on modern naval vessels for coloring and general flow. Don't think I've ever been as happy with the textures on a ship before, or the detailing. There's even a little shuttle bay door on top being hit by those lights. These might make me rethink that whole "no external lights on military ships" thing I've been on for years in my own universe. They really do help with the realism, even if I'm not sure they'd actually be there. Background digitally painted in GIMP 2.6 Enjoy, and let me know what you think.

Looks good enough for box art if it was rendered bigger, and even has space for some text without spoiling the composition, particularly at top left; no idea if that was intentional but very nice anyway.

Great looking designs. very functional looking. Yeah, maybe running lights, following the naval traditions for docking operations, but I'm guessing a combat ship in deep space is going to be matte black and have no external lights.

You should be proud of these models--they're great! Really like the lighting in this one.
