Hi, My name is Bill and I am updating my homepage to reflect a wonderful event in my life...marriage, September 18, 2010, to my best friend Tara...known to many of you as auntietk here on Renderosity.
We "met" shortly after I joined Renderosity in August 2008. We share a love for photography and indeed all types of art.
We live north of Seattle and enjoy getting to share photographic excursions and information with other Renderositians ( is "Renderositians" even a word? ). LOL
As for me, it seems like I've been taking pictures all my life but I didn't get serious enough to purchase my first Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) camera until May 2008. In May 2009 I upgraded from an Olympus E-510 to an Olympus E-30 with a wide variety of lenses.
My subject areas of interest include absolutely everything but with a frequent return to airplanes, cars, tanks, etc., ...or as Tara says, machines that make lots of noise;-)
If you are curious, I am pictured above in a Grumman Corsair on a taxiway of the Kansas City Downtown Airport. I used to fly and train others to fly airplanes. That will explain my frequent forays into the world of aviation. Last but by no means least, thanks to Pannyhb for introducing me to Renderosity. The moment I saw it I was hooked.
Fine print: Yes, the photo above is a photo manipulation:-)

Nice shot. I knew an insulator collector when I lived in Virginia but he didn't have the poles that went with them.

Thats a new one.. I love it. I visited a place recently that had over 20,000 pairs of salt and pepper shakers, it is now a musuem but started out as this womens collection was pretty fun to walk through I will have to post a photo of some of them or how about all of them haha. Nice to see one of the members here, I've had a chance to meet a few members as well, all wonderful people. Glad you all had the chance to meet up.

Those are beautiful, and I love to collect anything made of colored glass. Unfortunately, my collections pale next to his. This is a wonderful portrait. So glad you found one of your neighbors with matching interests. Wonderful story.

OWOW That is indeed a strange but interesting thing to collect, but why not? :-S Such a nice capture :-)

What amazes me about this photo is that your camera still functions properly LOL! I know a lot of guys are proud of thier pole, but hare are a few facts for your viewing edification: There are a total 46 insulators on this pole. At an average weight of a pound and a half each, that's 69 pounds of glass this thing is holding up. That's in addition to the metal pins, brackets, and assorted other hardware. How 'bout that, huh? I've been collecting these funny glass things since late 1999. There are approximately 2000 or so insulator collectors in the USA, and numerous others around the world. You can learn all about insulators and insulator collectors at http://www.insulators.info Trust me - you will be amazed! Hmmmm - you'd think with all the hair packages I'v bought on Rendo, I could fine one that would fit LOL! Cool shot, Bill! That was a fun Sunday; I'm still giggling over that wine bottle episode :-D

Multi level post....firstly hi Rod, second, glass insulator collecting? going to look into that.Visited Rods gallery great Poser work, a chance to learn Bill?. Some very interesting photos too..."Only in Kansas" is a very British view of America in general...(though not one I subscribe to myself). So all round a great piece.Last but not least a very sharp image and as you say a very friendly face.

Most fascinating hobby. Great motto, never pass on a good rendo friend.

One thousand insulators? Egad, I thought I was pushing the envelope with my 800+ DVD and VHS movies. Excellent capture of the collector amidst his collectibles, Bill.
hipps13
such a colorful capture warm hugs, Linda

OK, I love the way those are displayed. I have only 4 or 5 on my garage window sill but I treasure them. No one sees them where they are. this is the ultimate display stand!

When I first found out about Rod's collection of glass insulators, the only thing I could think of was, "I've got to get out there and get some shots!" But I never thought it was a strange thing to collect. I think I took pictures of all the ones outside! :D That was a fun evening. Excellent chicken, fun conversation, and loads of information. I only wish I'd thought to take pictures of the two of you trying to get into that bottle of wine! LOL! Nice photo of a great guy.

WOW! What a shot! I love everything about this, and it's always great to see fellow Renderositans! He looks friendly, and wow...grilled chicken! That's as good as pork chops or pork knee! (Pork knee is definitely an import the USA needs to learn of...it's incredibly good!) But anyway, enough rambling...this shot is amazing. I love the lines in it...the insulators look like music notes! Well, not literally, but like they're showing you how to play a tune, a telegraph tarantella maybe? Great colors too...I love the way the blue in Rod's jacket accents the greenish blue of the insulators. I wish I could have laid my hands on my grandmother's old insulators. I was always amazed at how they looked like little glass command modules for rockets that never flew. Great work!
beachzz
People collect all kinds of things for all kinds of reasons--I love what he does--wonder if I could my own power pole?? Great shot, good to see the man behind the work as well!!
whaleman
Interesting to me because he looks so much like a friend of mine from Elk Island Park. Nice collection too! And a very good shot!
