Description
If I were on the ball, I would tell you all about this bowl and pedestal. However, all I know is that the image is mostly maroon, and my gallery needed a bit of something in the red family. :P
This is from the Nelson-Atkins in Kansas City. It's a bowl on a pedestal. It's a HUGE bowl on a pedestal! That's pretty much everything I know about it.
Here's another example of the fine job they do there. Notice how the colors of the bowl are picked up in the walls, the picture frames, and Bill's shirt. Actually, I think they'll be calling Bill to ask him to stand there in the exhibit in that blue shirt. LOL!
I thought about taking him out of the image, but decided I liked the depth and motion he provided in an otherwise static image.

Ooh, I love this image and Bill's probable new career. The colors are quite amazing, and the maroon is nicely rich. The details in this are stunning and what a bowl. It's nicely fancy!

Bill is looking a bit pale in this shot, must be maroon isn't his colour... Beautiful bowl,you did a very nice job of capturing it even behind glass. Not always easy to do. (with or without reflections of a friend)

Excellent capture through the glass. The reflections just enhance the image. The painting on the left appears to be a lifeboat in some sort of distress. With that as a clue I'm guessing last half of the nineteen century.

Love the comments above...some guys will do anything for attention:) I am going to provide an educated guess...I think this was in the room marked "Romanticism". This was a period that began in the mid to late 18th Century and carried into the mid 19th Century. Here's a Wiki

A perfect Tara touch on this shot--never just one thing but layers of them! The bowl is lovely, but I'd likely drop and break it the first time I washed it. It would make a great salad serving bowl, wouldn't it? Or how about a bushel of peel-and-eat shrimp? Complete with lemon and lots of cold beer? Great shot!

I've heard of pheasant under glass but this is a new one on me. Stellar capture of the clarity, color and texture on this beautiful objet d'art. And, I don't see any shirt in this image.
