Description

There is an area west of the Golden Gate Bridge called China Beach that most visitors never visit. Here is a different view looking east at a foggy Golden Gate.

Neat shot. I have been there...in this exact spot...in 1973. Isn't it great to get the view few have seen? If I recall there are some old, deserted coastal artillery fortifications up above China Beach. We lived just east of the highway in Army family housing on The Presidio of San Francisco. Gorgeous but cold at times, even in the middle of the summer...thanks to sea breezes and fog. Good memories...

Nice work - a great POV of a landmark that has been the victim of myriad cliched snapshots.

It's a great shot. The far side of the bridge looks almost like a fantasy world to me. It has a very sombre feel to it. Even the fact that the bridge itself looks like it's fading makes it far more interesting that most shots of the bridge I've seen.

Not many places in The City where you can find a quiet spot on the beach but this is definitely one of them. And you have captured it so beautifully...and peacefully.

I'm pretty much mirroring what others have said. I like the different view and the way the bridge, which commands attention because it is so beautiful, is not in pride of place as the only reason to see the picture. It is instead, part of the landscape, with its head in the clouds. The gentleman nearest, who seems to be feeling the cold and wind, the bird, the couple, the mountains, water and the bridge all come together to make this a phenomenal shot. I like it a lot!

This is a great view. I love how the tops of the bridge fade into the mist. I love the whole picture!
