Description

Having grown up in the shadow of a beloved elder brother, Fabrizio della Vedra is used to disappointing his father. Nevertheless, even he is surprised when an ill-advised love affair results in his unconditional expulsion from the family home. Alone in the town of Antalia at the age of seventeen (except for his family's old servant, Rodrigo), Fabrizio is looking for something to believe in. Conceiving a romantic plan to join the condotta, he decides to learn to fight and begins frequenting Sordi's tavern, down near the docks. Here, ex-soldiers and other ne'er-do-wells meet to drink and gamble on the outcome of fencing matches. At Sordi's, Fabrizio finally stumbles across destiny. This comes not in the shape of the condotta but in the form of friendship with a lonely, world-weary man not much older than himself: Francesco Ramiro, whose skill with a sword is matched only by a burning desire for vengeance. Quite beautiful. The handsome nobility of the character's features caught my attention immediately. The composition of the scene gives a sense of mystery and intrigue.
