Brad Pitt and I share the exact same birthday (month, day, year) outside of that, our stories diverge considerably. Mr. Pitt went on to become an internationally famous superstar, while I have led the much more interesting life of the starving artist. I come from a long line of storytellers (whose gift for gab stretches back through the mists of time to our native Ireland) and professional malcontents who were seemingly born to create something in the arts, be it music, writing, sculpture, painting, or photography. I started writing at age 12 with a screenplay with my cousin Ryan about a planet where everyone looked like Elton John entitled "Don't I Know You?" More screenplays followed, several of which received epic Super-8 production with budgets that sometimes ran up to $10. A few even had sound!  More writing followed: songs, poems, short stories, numerous unfinished novels, etc.. Somewhere in there was an attempt at being a rock star...
Still living at home, at age 22, my father dropped an elderly Nikromatt 35-mm film camera into my lap, in the hopes that I would "make a go of it" as a photojournalist. That didn't happen, but I did develop an abiding love of photography that along with writing and archival work have been among the chief passions of my life. When it comes to my photography, I try to be as creative as possible while at the same time striving for a documentary/archival quality. The only set rules I adhere to, when it comes to making pictures are: 1.) Try not to make the picture blurry, and 2.) Don't drop the camera.

Oh wow, what a memory jogger---this bus ride seemed to go on forever, but no one seemed to care. We just talked and walked and wherever we wound up was exactly the RIGHT place--I love this shot of two of my favorite people!! The others just aren't in the foto!!

I hadn't heard about the wrong bus Corey...now I know why the museum was missed. But that was as it should have been for this special day for all of you:) Neat shot!

Wish I was down there and could hang out with you people and get led astray - you are having fun!

Oh Corey, I love your title!!! It almost seems as if Tara is explaining the mystery to Mark in detail! Hehe... Fun shot!

Awesome capture of two of the nicest persons in RR. I never get tired of hearing about your Chicago trip. :-D

What on EARTH was I talking about? :P Mark totally busted you! LOL! What strikes me most is how much taller I look than Mark, when he's really taller than I am. Gadz ... my legs are SO short! Okay ... aside from all the things people see when they look at photos of themselves ... I like this. Whoever that woman is, she's certainly got something to say! Her audience is a bit distracted, though, and probably didn't hear a word she said. :D

Must be a fate to be on this bus. Great shot.

Hi Corey, I've not been on RR at all, but for a dedi to a passed friend; and I'm remiss because I've not commented on so many wonderful artworks by so many wonderful people, you alwyas included. But I saw this a day after you posted it and wanted to tell you how happy I was that you posted a such a fine pic of me & tara, and of another beautiful moment from that great weekend we all shared. It's a wonderful pic---not because I'm in it (believe me, that's not the reason, lol) but because of your native knack for capturing the moment in spontaneity, energy and joy. It's just your trademark. (Or one of them.) I love tara here, all animated and explaining, no doubt sharing things she really loves. And me, looking, as Andrea said, like I'm thinking: "What am I doing with all these PHOTOGRAPHERS???" I wish I'd had a camera then, because now I understand what it is to be on a weekend like this. But you sure caught me in one of my many pensive moments, with my hair flying into the light---see, I like to call that "dramatic," "windblown," lol: In fact it's that my hair has a will of its own and doesn't give a s___ about anything or anyone. I sued my hair once, but I lost. It's got powerful lawyers...This has that energy you always capture, free, spontaneous, and to the point of what you're capturing. Please know I've seen everything you've posted, all your shots from sides of streets, highways, from your porch or back stairwell, your tilted shots, your shots of dramatic chicago skies, of demolition machines w/ big guys looking at you like, "you got a problem Jack???", and even your drawing which I was thrilled to see, wondering how many more you have tucked away in your archives. One day I'll return & comment more, but know that I've looked, and I love your work & spontaneity and wonderful eye. This pic's funny, fun & terrific. And if anyone wonders why my chicago shots always had this damned sweater, it's because I don't HAVE more than 2 or 3 other sweaters. A "font of fashion awareness" I'm not. Thanks for posting this. Hope all is well with you, Corey!

Like Helle, I never get tired of hearing all the stories and seeing the pictures of your time together last year. Excellent image! Wonderful expressions and soft lighting! Whatever Tara is talking about, it has lit her face with enthusiasm and Mark, though momentarily distracted by a photographer, seems very content with his lot. My sister and I got fouled up by the buses when we went to the Museum of Science and Industry. We got there, just a little later, (OK a lot later) than we intended.
