I am 58 years young, live in Johannesburg, South Africa and I'm a true product of my continent. I love the bush, the animals, sunshine, sunsets - oh well, anything to do with nature. I am unmarried and have three sons - 37, 33 and 30 respectively and three granddaugters aged 12, 6 and 4 respectively and obviously the light of my life! Photography has always been a passion and I have loved it since I can remember. I was still using a SLR camera and only switched to digital only in late 2007! My other passion is travel and I have been lucky enough to have travelled fairly widely. There are however still many, many places I would love to visit "one day." I am truly an amateur photographer and do it merely as a hobby. So please be gentle when you comment on my work. :-) Thank you Piet, my dear friend, for convincing me to place my work on Renderosity. You owe me one! Hugs, Carin xx

Was he waiting for a big one... something like a mermaid or so? :D Excellent shot, Carin!

Surf fishing here looks like a dream. Out here, I have to battle blankets of seagrass and sometimes, my bait will get caught up in it and when the waves try to take the seaweed back, it also hauls my line (and me) out too. Bothersome. Great shot and oh so peaceful. Wish I could have been there with you.

I'd have a kite at the end of the line instead of a hook/bait and be doign some wind fishing

If I didn't know better I'd think he was fishing for something in the sand. An iconic image well captured.

TERRIFIC CAPTURE GREAT SHOT

Great shot. I've been heading to more secluded places too recently. Even though I live right near an excellent pier, drunks come down from the local pub and want to chat all the time. 'Caught anything?' can continue on for over and hour with the same person, who then ends up telling me how they hate migrants, think the old days were better........and then go on to say they caught a gazillion fish yesterday and so why aren't I doing the same!

Excelent compo, wonderful picture.

OMG, what is your brother trying to catch, a swordfish, barracuda, or something really Moby Dick? What a long fishing pole! I have taken shots of local fishermen/fisherwomen, and their poles look like toothpicks compared to his. In any event, terrific mood ambiance in this excellent shot, Carin! Nigh onto an oil painting in this one.

Ahh, the big one. It's kind of like treasure hunting, you never quite know what you are going to get.
