Description

Namibia 2010 I have added a softening filter on CS4 to try and enhance the feeling of desolation in this image. To me it is projecting the typical 'way to nowhere'! Image obviously shot in the Northern Namib Desert. Thank you for your kind comments and favs on my upload "Patience" of yesterday! I truly appreciate your wonderful support! Stay well! Hugs Carin xx

Definitely a desolate track of land! I'm trying to imagine the first people who saw this while traveling to a new home....

I don't think you needed to do anything to make this more desolate, Carin! Coming from lush, damp, green ( if somewhat chilly at the mo,) Dorset, this has an instant effect on me.

Such wide open space. It's nice to see there are still open space not crowded with little houses. Looks a bit lonely though.

Glad to see the use of the softening filter...now I can read the reactions of others...always fun to collect opinions. I like it.

Such a stark view. Desolate, yes, but not barren by any means. I can only imagine the amount of life out there. Who would jump in a vehicle and follow those tracks? Intrepid explorers, slightly crazy Boers ... :P I think there is noplace on earth that is so devoid of habitation that somebody doesn't know it like the back of their hand. What a compelling image!

As much as I detest the desert, I seem to love it when others photograph it. :-) this is really solitary... harsh... and done so well.

Wow, a lonely track for sure; dusty, and hot too? I imagine it's very quiet, except for maybe insect sounds. Great atmospheric capture, Carin!

This seems so stark and hard and dangerous--but isn't the ocean just over that rise, or close? What an amazing place--you really caught the feel of it here!!

I have to say, Carin, that you've inspired a story with this image! That, or at least the important emotional element of a story! I love it when photography does that. How superb! I love the mood of this. I find deserts to be harsh places, but not necessarily unpleasant...just...well...hot! Unfortunately they're also woodlouse-free zones which is a pity. But wow, what stark beauty! This whole image reminds me of a poem that pieces the heart of truth with relentless accuracy. And on top of that, it's amazingly beautiful! I love what you see and how you see it, I also love how you present it, tweaked here and there, but intrinsically true to its nature. This is marvelous!

I can imagine someone being tempted to find out what that hill in the distance looked like close up. Amazing landscape. You certainly captured the feeling very well.
