Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

It's a plantain, if you need to know! One of my favourite wild flowers, and a great pic!

Nice shot very well done!!
Bothellite
We used to rig those for shooting at each other.. After they are dried up a bit in the sun, pulls the thing out with a long piece of stem attached. You take the detached end and pull it around and over the stem just behind the flower head and bend - almost break it over that portion of the stem, to kinda make a tight-kinked loop. Purpose of that is to snap off the head as you pull quickly on the stem pulling it against that sharp bend which you are holding tight with your other hand. Just a couple of tries and you get the gist (which you probably already know from kid-hood). And no I'm not a gun person... And... this is a nice shot! :-))

Wonderful shot, I love the DOF here!

As kids, we did the same thing with these that Bothellite (above) did. Cool.

Yep! Remember doing that too. :D Excellent capture!

It's a weed. LOL! But I looked up plantain, and discovered this weed from my childhood (which were used as ammunition, as above), is known as English Plantain. Who knew? Well, they say a weed is just a plant that's growing where you don't want it. Aside from all that ... fantastic lighting on this! It fairly pops off the screen.

WOW! I love this. I've never seen one of these before (and had no idea that they could be so intrinsic to kid-play.) I love the DOF here and the color. I love Tara's response too. I like weeds...often more than things people plant on purpose. But that's just me, I'm weird. I talk to crustaceans, after all.
