Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

Wonderfully placid. I think the posts were and ARE used for meditation...I know they make me feel very calm and happy.

I like the meditation theory about what the posts! I didn't come up with it, but I'm sticking with it. They might have been used for log containment. Maybe they're what's left of piers that have been partly demolished? Whatever the reason, you captured them beautifully! I love those colors! I think this is most definitely a kind of Northwest Coast color scheme...the Midwest just gets...well...prairie colors with not too many greens and darker browns. The atmosphere in this shot is amazing. VERY calming!

Cool dark and light contrast and reflection ambiance in this shot, Marilyn. To walk my post in a military manner, and to call the corporal of the guard in any case not covered by instructions. (From a list of orders I remember from sentry duty in the Army.)

That group of pilings in the background that are lashed together at the top would indicate that boats docked there at some point. They serve as a sort of bumper for the side of the boat so it doesn't swing around. The boat would have docked here, and the hoist (which I remember, but which is out of view in the image) would probably be used to offload cargo. (Logs, for example, coming in to be milled.) I believe the logs come in on trucks these days ... that dock doesn't look like it's been used for quite a while! The meditation idea is much nicer ...

I’m in on the meditation theme also. Great reflections and all the sea life, like barnacles and mussels, growing below the high water line. You must have taken this at low tide. Dana

They were placed there by Mubbin-skubbies. That is known only by local natives.
