Description

Take me out to the park..... I do realize that baseball is no longer played here at Candlestick Park. I also know it's not even called that anymore; it's probably called "Big Huge Enterprise That Paid A Lot For The Right To Have It's Name On A Ballpark" Park. So, given all that, here's an overhead view of the darn place, whatever it's called these days. The 49er's football team still calls it home. It used to home to the SF Giants baseball team, but they now play in a park that has yet some other silly name near the Embarcadero in the city.

As I recall, the name changes almost yearly. I don't like this "sponsored" stuff that causes us to have to remember who has rights at any particular time. Pick a name and stick with it! But this is a lovely shot; I did go to a baseball game there when it still had baseball! A little chilly, but baseball is always fun!

Here, here, on the over commercializing that is poured down our throats. I happen to know the current conglomerates name but refuse to say ;~p Well seen photo op!

Us old folks here still refer to the stick. I don't even think I even know the current name. LOL Great shot

Buy me some peanuts and crackerjacks.... A nice sharp capture. Looks in rather tip-top shape from that height, Maz. I recall it would get so cold with swirling winds in this park at night that it was difficult to play ball.

I would love to have watched one game of the Giants in Candlestick Park, that would have been a memory!

Oooh, what really gets me about this shot is the fact that the ball park sitting in the middle of that larger than life parking area looks a bit like some strange capacitor or something in the middle of a really big circuit board! And I'm with you on the whole corporate name thing! Just because a corporation sponsors something doesn't mean that they get to turn the place into a form of brand recognition! Ugh! I could go on and on about that, but I won't. I'll just sit back and enjoy this image instead.

Never been there but this photo is great! You could get lost looking for your car after the game. We have the triple A team for the Boston Red Sox, just a 10 minute walk away. Cheaper than going to Boston, box seats $9.50.

A tad blue in the overall image's color balance. Man, all that asphalt-- on a sunny summer day that parking lot would be a real hell hole.

Great memory and super shot Marilyn. I haven’t been to a game at the “stick” since Willie Mays left to play for the Mets. Oh my, I Am getting very old. Dana
