Description

Most guys can remember when they were young and first became interested in the opposite sex. Perhaps you stood in front of the mirror combing your hair over and over and practicing your moves (“Hey babe, how’s it going?”). The ladies were seldom impressed and you would not master the complexities of male-female relationships (if ever) until years later. These adolescent bulls are following in that tradition. Facing down each other, wrestling, roaring at each other and bumping chests. When the adult males arrive in a few weeks they will stand aside and watch the masters at work. Their turn will come in a few years. These are not the best pictures but, since I was there before the adult males arrived, I thought you should see some of the male behavior.

and afterwards, they went to the nearest bar to drown out their sorrows, realizing that they had a very long ways to go before they could even get one of the ladies to look at them. Great photography - Wonderful captures

Boys will be boys, but if they only knew all we need are nice words, a walk on the beach and we're happy!!

So much for peace and quiet at the beach. Great captures! I love watching male grackles strut and display their wings. Often I have to look around to find the female, who shows a discouraging lack of interest.

Beautiful collage Mark. Looks like it would be an education to just sit and watch. Dana

They bark, like dogs, at each other when they do this, don't they? The chest bumping must be funny to watch in the water.  Who else does that besides Apes and Roosters?.. Only us guys, right?  :-D It definitely looks like a great camera day.  Fun stuff! Terry

Looks like they had a good laugh at the end. The seagull looks like a referee just in case. Wonderful shot.
