Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

WOW! What a post, and being the Star Trek nerd that I am, I have to point out the significance of this being post number 1701 for you. NCC-1701 is the registry number of the USS Enterprise and well...I have to make at least ONE Star Trek reference this year...and since I've just done that, I can now go on and do something useful and on-topic. This photo rocks. Purple happens to be my favorite color and you've captured its rich passion here. That tinge of blue near the center of the blossoms is almost acidic (in a good way) and so deliciously sharp. This is quite marvelous!

So BEAUTIFUL! I received an invite to an ex-pupil's 50th birthday bash (!) yesterday, and it is called 'Start to wear Purple'. I have just stopped wearing purple so I'll have to run up a little number specially!

We all came out to Montreux On the Lake Geneva shoreline To make records with a mobile We didn't have much time Frank Zappa and the Mothers Were at the best place around But some stupid with a flare gun Burned the place to the ground Smoke on the water, a fire in the sky, smoke on the water They burned down the gamblin' house, It died with an awful sound and Funky Claude was running in and out Pulling kids out the ground When it all was over We had to find another place But Swiss time was running out It seemed that we would lose the race Smoke on the water, a fire in the sky, smoke on the water We ended up at the Grand Hotel It was empty cold and bare But with the Rolling truck Stones thing just outside Making our music there With a few red lights and a few old beds We make a place to sweat No matter what we get out of this I know, I know we'll never forget Smoke on the water, a fire in the sky ,smoke on the water

This is lovely! It looks almost irredesant and somewhat other worldly. Kind of like it's throbbing with color. Very nice, and I love purple anyway. I wanted a Plumb Crazy Dodge Charger when I was a kid. I also remember the early Sixties pop version of Deep Purple by Nino Tempo and April Stevens, which is the one i first thought of . And then, like Blinkings my brain started playing "Smoke on the Water". Great shot.
