What's in a name? I always thought "Maynard" sounded a little too much like "main nerd." Plus, you just know that any guy named "Gaylord" pretty much NEEDS to be a tough guy considering how much he would get picked on.
I once knew a young lady from Mississippi who thought the sexiest name for a man was "Hoke." In my life, I have encountered one person (a woman!) whose LAST name was Hoke, but never as a first name. Perhaps you have?
