Description

An overcast and extremely windy day. The sun was close to setting and for a brief moment broke beneath the clouds on the horizon. The image is taken at North beach in the Point Reyes national seashore preserve. This is a beach that faces the open pacific and for that the surf and tides are wild! One can see the way the wind is peeling the water off the crest of the waves. As a boy I grew up in a coastal town and so maybe I'm taking for granted the title chosen. In stormy or extremely windy conditions the sea gets frothy, foamy, and if the surf stays like that for a duration that foam became more of the consistency of cream. Hence the title "Sea Cream", there had been a big storm the day before and the wind was reported at gale force. Wind gusts have been clocked here at over 100mph. This is an absolute great image! I love the coast during storms. there is something about the combination of the wind, the rain, and the waves that just make this beautiful
